Let’s Start Developing the Right Mindset

How does the day come to an end you don’t know when you do this job. All you know is you love your job. You enjoy every bit of it. You are passionate about it.

Great! You are in the right field.

But wait. There is some part of your profile that you do not like. You know you have to wear different hats throughout the day. Some you like and some you don’t or may even hate. Well, hate may sound a strong word here, but in the strongest sense you do not like this part of your job. You feel that this part of your job is not your cup of tea, when you do it, you feel like fish out of water. If given a chance, you would want to pay for it and delegate it to someone else who can do it on your behalf.

But you know what? If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

So what do we do now? How do we accept and complete that part of our job which we do not like at all.

If we can delegate and leverage that part of our job, which we must over a period of time, to focus on tasks that matter most to us, nothing like that. But if not, what’s next.

Before I write anything, wait. A disclaimer here. I am in no way an expert on the subject. What I am suggesting to you is based on my personal experience and should not be taken as a professional advice. Hope you understand. Thanks very much:)

So, now let’s do this little exercise here.

  • Rub your hands for a minute. Just a trick to distract your mind from the stress of the task. Not done. Just do it once. Done, wonderful! Now relax.
  • Take a pen and a paper (you know how much I like paper and pen exercises). If you’re travelling, you can use your mobile devises as well.
  • Now write 3 such tasks or assignments that you have been avoiding since very long. Just write three, you can extend this list later on.
  • Now ask some of the questions which I am suggesting. You can ask your set of questions as well. Important is to ask right set of questions to get the right set of answers.
    • Why have you not done that task? Are you afraid of something? What are you afraid of? Fear of success or fear of failure? Fear of rejection or expectation of approval?
    • What about time? Do you have sufficient time? Do you think you are engaged in too many projects and assignment and are unable take to anything? But are all those assignments important or only urgent? Do you manage your time well? Or you waste a lot of time in some unnecessary engagements?
    • Do you have the right resources to get the things done? Do have logistic issues, man power or financial issues? If yes, how will you sort them out?
    • Do you lack will power? Motivation or courage?
    • Have you set too high expectation from yourself ?
    • Do you have the right skill set or competencies to complete that task?

Once you know the real cause, you would be better able to get the result and work on your mindset. Yes, I am referring to mindset. Remember the words of Henry Ford , “If you think you can or you think you can’t, you are always right.”

So, the answer is with you and within you. If you think you can or cannot, is totally dependent on you and not on anyone else. It’s all on your mindset and attitude. Just set it right. Work on it day after day and every day on more concious basis. This is one of the best gifts that you can give to yourself and others around you. The gift of positive mindset.

Just know what stops you from achieving and completing what you want. Check your limiting beliefs. Remember, they just limit you. Your possibilities are limitless in the truest sense.

All I want you to do is know. If there is something inside you stopping you to do, then work on yourself and your mindset. If you need any help from outside, go and check out for help. But just don’t sit and complain. This song sometimes become too long and people get bored of our repetitive excuse giving song.

Don’t give up. If something which is not in your hand, still try. You may feel better by trying out something and not being in your comfort zone.  In making continuous effort you will make butter out of milk so do not be afraid of any churning.

Just develop the right mindset and try doing the first task from your list. I am with you.

Let’s start!

      Thanks Prashant.
Important is to accept all part of your job with grace, whether you like it or not and then develop interest in the those areas where you want to escape and do not like to put in efforts.
The growth and development takes place when we push ourselves and move out of our comfort zone by handling and managing the tasks that we have never done before.
That is how we grow our self confidence and develop right mindset.

It was nicely written and made a lot of sense. Infact I got 3 tasks as well that I have been avoiding for quite sometime now. I will work on the same on priority. Thanks.

Just that I believe, questions part could have been given more space and stress in the writing.

But overall, a nice one 🙂

    • Pratibha says:

Thanks dear for jotting down the 3 tasks and working on them on priority basis. Good to see that you follow the post in true spirit and with sincerity.
Thanks for being critical. The question part was the section where I too was also not content and found then somewhat incoherent. But I have rephrased and categorised them, which I might change again on further revisions. Thanks to this platform which allows making changes in short duration.
Thanks for your inputs. Keep reading, keep following and keep suggesting 🙂

  • Good afternoon Ma’am,

It’s really a nice blog. I’m definitely gonna complete my left tasks. The reason for not completing it is: for not doing it continuously , getting bored and lack of enthusiasm.

    • Pratibha says:

      Hi Radhika,
Good to hear from you after a long time. Hope you are doing great as always!
If you feel bored or lack enthusiasm, you can make the task interesting by engaging with right set of people or talk to people who have done it before and learn from them how to make things interesting.
You can take a small break, listen to music, go out for out bound training and come up with many such options which will bring back motivation and passion in your work.
Stay connected dearie and be blessed always 🙂
