My Meeting With a Monk

My home is imperfectly perfect, well cluttered and beautifully messed up. And there is a monk who is making my home peaceful, serene and beautiful with her sublime presence.

It is a blessing to be with her. This monk is our four and a half years old niece.

Her eyes are expressive and so is her face. She is unconditional happiness and meaningful life personified. She smiles and laughs and the home looks vibrant and beautifully charged up.

She goes wherever she wants. Asks questions. Sits. Sleeps. Cuddles and kisses and loves to all of us. Her innocence feels infectious. There is no pretentiousness, no show off. She is what she is.

She listens to songs, play games, jumps on bed and wants to do everything in one go. She wants to eat mangoes just now, then suddenly looks at the photos and in the next moment she wants to play with Bunny and wants biscuits. She sings and makes and creates her own games. There is no planning and fixed schedule for her, she just flows like water, plays, sings, enjoys, smiles and moves with utmost ease.

When she dances, she is unaware of how and who. She is with herself. No, she does not know any dance form but her dance seems to be the culmination of all art forms. vr juhjhguy6…yes these indecipherable letters, she typed, imitating me, believing her best work.

She does not get bored even for a moment. Tom and Gerry, oh, they make her laugh irresistibly. Chota Bheem is her favourite serial to watch. Her prattles sound meaningful and truly interesting. She is present in every moment. She gives directions to her elder one and Anvay looks a little jealous of her. She demands things and then gets the things she wants. It is wonderful to be with her.

I wonder does she feel angry, frustrated or even stressed at any moment? I am confident she does not.

She is devoid of any conflict and ego. Her mind does not trouble her like tameless horse and chattering monkey.

In three three days, unknowingly, she has shown me the next unknown path. Thanks to her.

May God always bless her.

    Nice post ma’am.
All these Monks actually teache us how to live life when we open heartedly observe.
A small smile of their can even change the mood of anonymous. A small kid only knows how to love.
But the sad part where an adult scares them with big eyeballs and loud voices just to calm down crying and demanding kids which ultimately become their first lesson of fear, frustration, anger ,etc
There are many ways to calm down gently.
They give unconditional love and they want to understand and learn only with love.
    May God bless her.

Yes Prashant, as said, these kids are like wet cement, whatever we say and do gets imprinted on them. So, it is we, who teach them anger and stress and fear and failure. In their world, there is only love and happiness.
I don’t know who teaches to whom and for what purpose.
But yes, it is wonderful and beautiful to be with them.

Tell Anvay ,he is not alone , I’m jealous as well :P. But yes, after reading this post ; I want to be a kid again!

    • Pratibha says:

I will convey your message to him Anshul.
The kid, the old, the devil, the angel, the hero, the warrior, the fighter, the lawyer, the teacher, the seeker, the explorer, the foe, the friend and the lord himself, all are inside us. It is we, who need to decide, who we want to be and keep in the forefront.
Enjoy being a kid dear. Take care.
