Sleep or Writer: Who Shall Win Today?

Tiredness is intoxicating today, spreading like numbness to my entire body. Listless I feel, devoid of energy, eyelids heavy, eyes bleary.

Sleep with her open arms stands there in my front, giving me warmth and motherly embrace with her caring touch, ready to take me along to her world of dreams, where her love will lull me to sleep within no seconds.

But lo! I cannot do so, not at this moment, for I have my promise to keep with you, and do my today’s blogging work.

Difficult for me is to resist her, not allow her to come closer to me and show her caress. Never ever have I felt this kind of conflict before. One side me, one side she standing so closer, waiting for me to take along with her. This tired and exhausted me wants to  swiftly go with her and this blogger inside me wants to stay, write, share and fulfil her promise with her dear readers.

Promise of writing and sharing what I feel and know. Promise of being with you on this day. Promise of adding something to your existing reservoir of knowledge. Promise of adding richer experience to your life in every way.

I don’t know who wins: my love for you to write and express what I feel on various topics or love of sleep for me to take care of me in one way or the other.

I know both shall win in ultimate terms. But before them, I want to loose myself, surrender myself and succumb myself. Let them decide what is more important and why.

But hold on! Can you help them to decide?

What I can comprehend from this post is that Never change your commitments for the sake of temporary pleasures,at last your commitments make who you are not the pleasures.
Like waking in the morning when mind resists that I should sleep half an hour more but commitment to get better allows me to leave bed early at time.
Ur posts keep fuelling the fire in my belly 🙂

    • Pratibha says:

      Very true Mohit!
It’s important to keep commitments and ensure that we fulfil them because they establish our credibility and check our mettle at the time of crisis when we feel that we can’t win and are so close to defeat.
Now, if my posts keep fuelling the fire in your belly, let me confess, your faces keep charged up my writing battery. Lets us promise to be connected always then.
Keep fighting resistance and let’s become who we want to become everyday.
Stay smiling and stay blessed always!
Wish you a good health after your fever.

You can let the sleep win. Unexpected delays is a surprising element which should be used to writers advantage. It keeps the audience guessing…. ;). We can always ask…y no post today…will it come by tomm! …:)

    • Pratibha says:

So here comes an interesting interpretation and answer from a beloved reader-Anshul Malik.
Thanks for keep the ball rolling and suggesting the idea that even if the sleep wins, that win shall be for the writer in ultimate terms, for she could then use the unexpected delay in adding the surprise element for her readers and use it for her advantage.
      Great! Win-win again.
So now be ready for the next surprise element, not in terms of when I write, but in terms of what I write next?
Thanks for the Anshulian comment again. Keep going against the current, that makes you who you are Mr Malik!
      God bless.

Hey Pratibha, good job for completing your task without falling into the open arms of the beautiful sleep.

Here I would like to share an experience. I recently attended a training – Focus on the Right Things. The trainer introduced us to an interesting tool to overcome your bad habits.

He told us to make a triangle and place the trigger i.e. the bad habit at the apex of the triangle and place the immediate benefit of the habit and the long term benefit if you leave the habit at the other two corners.

Now if you cut the connection of the trigger and the immediate benefit, you can get rid of the habit and achieve the long term benefits.

In the similar context, you by-passed the immediate benefit of falling asleep and taking rest, thus eventually achieved the long term benefit of completing the blog which will now be here forever for the readers.

I am sure you will do this many more times, again and again. Best of luck. Keep writing.

      What a wonderful tool Inder!

I am sure, we all could benefit from this tool immensely and work on developing new habits and changing the old ones. Keep on sharing such new experiences with us, it is always a pleasure to hear from you and learn from your experiences!

And yes, as always, may thanks for your encouraging words, they always inspire and motivate me to share what I know and make it common for all of us. Stay connected and be blessed always:)

I think the writer will win and then sleep because when you write from your soul, you feel much better. It means you have to focus first on your commitments …
    Nice post ma’am , stay blessed 🙂

    • Pratibha says:

      Thanks Vijay.
Yes, the writer did win and then came sleep for giving solace to mind and heart of writer and reader both.
Keep up your commitments and be blessed always:)
