Epiphanies in Life!

There are moments of epiphanies in everyone’s life. They were in Einstein’s life so were they in JK Rowling, they are in your life and so are they in mine. Taking about these moments in her great work, The True Secret of Writing, Natalie Goldberg advises to make a “survey of your life. And Make a list of those moments.”

What I am sharing with you is not a survey but a mention of the the moments of epiphanies in my life. Generally that moment may be one or many, but in my life, there are two which brought changes in my perspective towards life.

First, my introduction to the world of books, and second, the cancer treatment of my father.

While the first revelation made me an insatiable learner and changed my perspective towards people, things, and places. The second encounter with the cancer treatment of my father tested my learning, my attitude and my commitment towards my parents and taught me this realization that the greatest person in life is one who withstands in the crucibles of his life, the integrity of his character.

And today when I sit at my home and spend time with my husband, son and mother, I feel how lucky I am that I can read the books of my choice and can share the most important lessons taught by my father through this blogging, with my students, my friends and with my family members. Because, it is he who taught me that it is important to have dreams in life and it is important to have the right cause in life and to feel passionate about it. It is he who taught me that it is important to live the life of your dreams and it is important to do what matters most to you. And it he who showed me that it is important to help others  and express gratitude . And it is he who taught me that it is important to live more  everyday , to love more everyday and just try to learn more everyday!

Because as the Robert Browning says, “Who knows but the world may end tonight.”

The moment I came to know abt this stuff, which was a bit similar to the discussions which I was(sought of murmured) in my room with some of my frnz and I was discussing the negative as well as positive perspectives of our life… More is only the word which really satisfies the person whoz life is dedicated to humanity…

hello pratibha…..i do agree with the epiphanies of life. but very few who learns from there situations. your thoughts are applaudable to make us think again that every moment is to live and learn fully.

    • Pratibha says:

Hi Garima. It is true. Only few of us listen to our inner voices and exploit the potential of that moment. But I think, over a period of time life teaches us what we don’t learn from teachers and books. After all, life is a great teacher, and we have no option. Either we learn faster or fail faster. Either way we learn!
