It was time again for her routine check-up. There was something he wasn’t able to understand, the way her body was getting weaker day by day. All the prescriptions he had been following religiously, there was no betterment in her health. However, she rather seemed to have given up.

Contrary to that, her memory was sharp. In slurred voice, when she would wake up from her sleep in the morning, if he asked, she would give him answer without any second thoughts. This was strange to him. Earlier, before she could respond, it was his sister who would respond quickly. She would grope and recall for some time but not now.

Her nerves were weakening gradually day by it seemed to him. She would eat very little. She remained happy and cheerful throughout the day though.

She would try to answer to all her calls. Though, Aum ensured that she didn’t talk for long hours to unnecessarily exhaust her. He had fixed her calls to 3 to 5 per day depending on who calls her. Her friends were always given preference.

The other day when her college friend Kushagra had called, he could feel how revived she had felt. She was garrulous with Shrinkhala and chirpy with Himadri, rather coquettish and wanderer with Prarambh that hadn’t been known to Aum. May be he didn’t notice or he was too absorbed into his own lifes probes and problems.

Aum decided to meet Kartavya and visit few more doctors. In front of her he always kept his clam and demeanor happy, there was constant query and re-buttle in his mind to questions that he had wanted to know since her diagnosis. While his mind was analysing and trying to find solutions he was preparing for her breakfast. The tea was poured into her favorite cup and saucer. Cubes of suger placed right to it and then a spoon and tissue papers. Cucumber and carrot sandwich with less of a cheeze layer served with coriander and red sauce. The knife and pepper kept in the tray itself. While he was filling the flask of milk, suddenly the pressure cooker whistled and the milk just spilt. He called for the help and immediately after cleaning the slab with water and sponge he went into her room.

She was asleep. Calmness intact on her face. He thought to wake her up for it was time for her medicine but then decided to just wait for few more minutes. He made her rest on her favorite printed pillow comfortably and softly took the book kept beneath it. While taking it, the book mark fell on the floor that was written in Katyayani’s Handwriting:

योग: कर्मसु कौशलम् |

Aum smiled. Bowed to Krishna Consciousness.
