WisdomLeads #3: As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

Hi,

I know all of us everyday make sure to sweep the floors of our homes and wipe the dust off from every nook and corner of all our rooms including the unnoticed door knobs. But how many of us actually sit everyday to declutter the mind’s room and mop it and clean it and sweep it in such a way that only the positive thoughts shine and beautify the décor of our mind’s room and the negative ones and the unhealthy ones go straight to the garbage bins?

So, here is Chapter No. Three from Allen’s “As a Man Thinketh” which explains why it is important to have positive thoughts for healthy body and healthy mind and why it is important to have positive thoughts for a great life style. And I am very sure that after reading this you will be reinforced to join the mental gym along with your friend, who else, other than me!

Chapter 3: Effect of Thought on Health and the Body

I know you have heard this cliché that, “a healthy mind lives in a healthy body” and that “you are what you eat.” But what Allen says is this “The body is the servant of the mind. It obeys the operations of the mind, whether they be deliberately chosen or automatically expressed. At the bidding of unlawful thoughts the body sinks rapidly into disease and decay; at the command of glad and beautiful thoughts it becomes clothed with youthfulness and beauty.” This is truly interesting.

According to Allen, the roots of any disease are in our thoughts. Healthy, positive, pure and happy thoughts build up good health. And thoughts of fear, malice, jealous, disappointment and despondency rob the body and make it a store house of ailment and varied disease. Those who constantly live in the fear of disease are the ones who invite the disease and then live with the ailment. And so, Allen goes to the extent of saying that “Change of diet will not help a man who will not change his thoughts…clean thoughts make clean habits.”And therefore those who purify their thoughts need not refer to any doctor or physician because “there is no physician like cheerful thoughts for dissipating the ills of the body…But to think well of all, to be cheerful with all, to patiently learn to find the good in all-such unselfish thoughts are the very portals of heaven; and to dwell day by day in thoughts of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their possessor.”

So now I think you will better understand why joining this mental gym is so important to keep our body fit and healthy with evergreen beautiful and positive thoughts!

And if you have not decluttered your mind since very long then do it today, or I say do it now!

  • Pick up a paper and a pen. Go to a silent place. Sit there for few minutes. Breathe and relax.
  • Now write all the thoughts which are coming to your mind on the paper and keep on writing till you exhaust. Relax and take deep breaths. All the thoughts which were running in your mind and were driving you crazy are now trapped on paper and are there in front of you. You can now look at them and see how these thoughts have troubled you since so long. Just see how they all look! So little yet so big , troublesome and just like crunchy and spicy Bingo madangles!
  • Now just put a cross on each of the thought which you find is negative, unwanted and creepy and which you no longer want.
  • Take a fresh piece of paper and write all the beautiful, positive, amazing and great thoughts which you want to be stored and decorated in your mind’s room. Just read them aloud to yourself and feel the positivity and inspiration injected by these thoughts in your mind and let them gradually lacerate deep into your entire body. You will just feel amazing. Awesome!
  • Relax and take deep breaths. It worked, it works and it will work.

Now don’t forget to do it every day till you master your mind. Because you know what Allen says “A man is what he thinketh” and Ralph Waldo Emerson says “That a man is what he thinks all day long.”So what is your thought for the next day all along?
