My Return Gift to You All!

Hi,

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL !

Thank you for wishing me and making my B’day truly AWESOME.

Well, I started receiving phone calls, gifts, emails and whatsapp messages a day before my B’day and finally on the day, all your lovely and heart touching wishes on phone, in my inbox and my FB wall truly made me feel just so great. And you know what? Your wishes and amazing gestures of love truly made me feel one of the blessed souls on this planet earth and one of the wealthiest human beings on this entire universe. And believe me, I am saying all this, without any exaggeration.

Because you all made me feel just AWESOME!

So today , a day after my B’day, when I am still counting my blessings and my best wishes, it is my turn to say my ineffable thanks to you all. On this day, I wish and pray for all your success, happiness, peace, prosperity and the greatest of abundance in all areas of your lives.

And thus, as gesture of my gratitude and thanks to you all, I share with you the list of books that I would like you to read and feel great about. Consider this, as a small gesture of my return gift, to you all. Since I too, like other book readers, truly believe in the words of Henry David Thoreau that …

Books

And I just want that through this blog, we also get a platform where all the like minded people could read, engage and enjoy the wisdom tapped in the greatest gifts available in the human history. The Gifts of Books.  Otherwise ,you may just do what one of my most favorite writers, Ray Bradbury, admonishes us to do the crime. The crime of not reading the book because according to him “ There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.”

And I don’t want you to do this crime. So here is the list of books on wisdom literature which is based on my own research and my own reading of them. And, yes, this list is definitely not arranged in order of any preference. So, pick up any book that you like and place an order, based on your own individual reading choice.

1. As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

This is one of the slimmest books that I have come across which contains wisdom wealth so enriched within. Each chapter in this book is heavily loaded with meaning and gives a lot of food for thought. Published in 1902, this book is also considered as a pioneer work in the field of self help movement. And since it is the slimmest in its look and size, I think, you can go for it first or read WisdomLeads on this blog and if you have already read it, then suggest me the next book to pick up.

2. Think and Grow Rich by Nepoleon Hill

This book has sold millions of copies over the years and still is in the all time bestsellers list. I think, it is because of the hard work and research efforts put in by Nepoleon Hill after getting inspiration from the industrialist Andrew Carnegie. This book is the crux of 20 years of research done by Hill based on The Law of Success by Hill which were written in 15 separate books  based on the interview of 100 American millionaire including Graham Bell and Edison. These findings were finally postulated into 16 laws. This book, in short, tells us all those success principles. Many have read, applied the principles and have validated their authenticity, now it’s your turn. If you have already tried and tested, share them with others.

3. The Diary of a Young Girl  by Anne Frank

This book truly made me cry. Because, it was difficult for me to imagine how could a girl, who died of typhus in one of the Nazi concentration camps,  could paint the picture of her gloomy world so beautifully. Anne Frank, who was of 13 years by then when she got her diary as her Birthday gift , was hiding in for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. This book is a saga of her dream and her death. And after reading her diary, you just feel like thanking to Anne Frank for writing and her father for getting this book published after her death. After reading this book, you just look at your own life in amazement and with immense gratitude.

4. Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

This book is another one such book, which will force you to see the world from the eyes of a man, who despite being in a concentration camp and bearing all atrocities, survives. You know why? Because he found the true meaning in life, which is living every moment- be it suffering, pain or even death. And one of the profoundest lessons that he gives all of us is that, “The salvation of man is through love and in love.”

5. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

Published in 2006, this book became an instant hit and was soon in the bestseller list. The book, based on the research by number of authors, speakers and mentors, reveals the secret which is the Universal law of cause and effect. With the stories and examples, the book shows us that we get whatever we ask from the Universe. The universe is just like the genie in the lamp which fulfills all our wishes and demands. Because our wish is his command. So, we should be aware of what we speak and ask for, because this law works without any fault. We get, what we want.

6. How to Win Friends and People by Dale Carnegie

Reading this book you will feel as if you are attending a self help workshop. Written in simple and plain style, this book gives us suggestion nuggets to be incorporated in our daily lives to win our friends and people in our lives. Interestingly, we all know almost everything written in this book, but ironically, we are fearful and careless to implement the simple suggestions to improve our relations. So, we can just brush up our people’s skill by reading this all time favorite book.

7.The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey

I think, it is a must read for all the management students and those who are going to do their Masters after completing their engineering or any other courses. Be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first in life, think win-win, seek first to understand than to be understood, synergize  and sharpen the saw ultimately for a healthy and fulfilling life, are the great success principles mentioned in the book. This book is then, I think, a must read for any one who wants to excel and be balanced and content in life. Read it, and change your life.

8. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

This book is a Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment. Eckhart, the writer whom you can follow at his website here,  at the age of 29 felt the suicidal depression and anxiety when one day he was confronted by the ‘personal epiphany’ which transformed his life and he embarked on his personal journey of enlightenment. What this books suggests is this-live in the present moment and understand the power of now. Most of the people either stick to their past for very long and many always dream about their wonderful future, in the process, what they miss is the power of now, the moment which defines our true existence. Past cannot be changed and future is still far, but what we have is the power of the moment. The power of Now.

9. The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo

All of you, who love the work of fiction more than a non-fiction, this book is for you. This novel is a story of a man Santiago who travels to unexplored lands and deserts as a shepherd in pursuit of his dreams and finding the true treasure. He meets the Alchemist who helps him in finding his destiny. To know what is his destiny, read the book and may be in his pursuit, you may find your own calling!

10. Awaken the Giant Within by Antony Robbins

Antony Robbins, whose audio tapes and videos have truly inspired me, is a person who believes in peak performance of an individual and thus is known as a Peak performance Coach. In this bestseller book, he tells us the strategies and tools which can awaken the giant which is latent inside all of us and those who want to read his free e-book, you can get from here. Read this book and awaken the giant within!

11.The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma

This book is again about epiphanies in the life. Julian Mantle, who is the protagonist of the story is a lawyer by profession, which Robin Sharma , the author was, before becoming a life coach and a mentor. But after leading a life of work, work and more work, Julian confronts a major heart attack which transforms his life. He sells his dream home, sells his Ferrari and goes to Himalayas in search of true meaning and purpose in life. Coming back from Himalayas, he shares the wisdom by Monks with his friend John. To know more what he teaches, read the book or wait for my blog posts 🙂

Read the books, explore them and see this world from fresh eyes. These books will inspire you to do and work on the things that matter most to you in life. Will add meaning in your life and will inspire you to enjoy each moment. With this thought, I hope you would enjoy and love this return gift of yours by mine. Although, I have many great books in my wish list but I would be truly happy, if could suggest me few more!

I am sure more such lists will keep on coming as we together read more and share more.

Thank you for reading the entire blog post! You can read the best books now because reading requires patience and patience is missing from the book of our lives. Add this chapter and enjoy its added benefits!

Wishing you all happy reading hours!
